N/A on most OBD-II trouble code readers indicate the monitor is not applicable to the vehicle being tested. On your scan tool, for monitors which your vehicle is equipped with, you should either see an "INC", representing Incomplete, or "READY", indicating the monitor has passed its self-test and is ready for inspection.
If you have any Incomplete emission monitors, except the EVAP (as of the time of this post), your vehicle will not pass the smog inspection, assuming it's a 2000 model year or newer. 1999 and older vehicles are allowed one incomplete monitor, regardless of the type of monitor.
