In our opinion your responsibility is none. At the time your sold your 1999
Ford F250 Super Duty Diesel no smog check requirements existed. During the
new owner's ownership of the Ford F250 the smog laws changed, and so the new
owner now needs to ensure his/her vehicle is up to smog code. We don't see
any responsibility on your part. Should this incident goes sideways you may
end up having a judge decide whether you are responsible or not. Again, in
our opinion, you have no responsibility to ensure a truck will be up to smog
check code 6 years after you've sold it.
