1991 Mercedes C300 failed the smog check but I got it repaired and passed later. Is the smog failure still on record?

My car failed the smog test due to some emmission problem. I love the car & I got it fixed at a cost of $750.00 as I wish to keep it. I am told the failed test will remain on the vhicle report & it can hamper the sale of the vehicle should I decide to sell it. This is rather unfair as once the problem has been resolved I strongly feel the fail report should come off the vehicle record. If not the should be new report alongside to confirm it has been fixed.

How do I go about to have a clean bill of health on the vehicle, bearing in mind that many other such matters pertaining to human beings machinery crops etc.

The new passing smog check record will supersede your Mercedes Benz C300's failed smog check record, and will be included in your Mercedes's smog check records/history. It should in no way hamper the sale of your Mercedes. The record of its initial failure can not be removed as it's data which is kept in the Bureau of Automotive Repair's database, but it should have no adverse affect on your vehicle should you decide to sell it.
