Ok, here we go... Your 1979 Chevrolet Silverado is going to need a PCV valve
(positive crank ventilation system - this is the little valve on top of the
valve cover which directs engine compartment fumes to the intake manifold),
an AIS system also known as a smog pump (Air Injection - Pump Type), an Air
Cleaner Assembly with the pre-heat tube (this is the duct that connects to
the air filter housing on one end and the exhaust manifold cover on the
other), an EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation system), an EVAP system
(this is the black charcoal canister usually located on either the front
left or right side of the truck) and a two-way CAT (this is the Catalytic
Converter - your Chevy needs to have only one. Two-way means it reduces only
two emissions CO & HC).
