Trouble Code P0600 indicates your Mercedes S500 has experienced a Serial Communication Link Malfunction. This means the ECU (one of which is located behind the passenger side floor mat toward the firewall) has lost communication with one other or more module(s), possibly through a short, disconnected wire or harness, or pushed-back pin. The fault more than likely lies in your S500's wiring.
We recommend first doing a battery reset. Check to see if this re-establishes data communication between the ECU and module(s). Your Mercedes S500 is equipped with several control modules such as the instrument cluster module, transmission module, climate control module, SRS module... Should any of these modules fail to communicate with one another a OBDII Trouble Code P0600 will be set.
If a battery reset (disconnect battery terminals for 10 seconds and reconnect) does not solve the problem have a Mercedes specialist diagnose your vehicle's P0600 problem using an SDS (Mercedes Benz Manufacture Specific Scan Tool). The SDS will narrow down the module which has the communication fault. NOTE: Perform battery reset with caution and at your own risk. Be aware all memory, radio codes, and Emission Monitors might erase.
