Smog Check 2003 Honda Accord in California Before Registration Renewal is Due

Is it possible to pre smog check my 2003 Honda Accord before registration and smog is due. My Accord's reg and smog is due in September and I would like to get my smog check now since the certificate will still be valid for 3 months. Is this allowed? For example, When its September and I renew my registration, the smog cert. will already be in the system? Let me know, thanks in advance.
