Infinity Trouble Code P1400 - EGRC Solenoid Valve
Your Infinity's ECM (engine control module) will set a P1400 if it notices the EGRC-solenoid valve harness is open or shorted, the EGRC-solenoid valve electrical circuit poor connection, or the EGRC-solenoid valve is faulty. The EGR solenoid valve controls exhaust flow to the intake manifold; for NOx reduction.
A malfunction is detected by the ECM when the improper voltage signal is returned through EGRC-solenoid valve. Your Infinity may turn on the Check Engine Light. A P1400 trouble code will cause your vehicle to fail the smog check.
Functionality - The EGRC-solenoid valve is activated by the Engine Control Module when it sends a ground signal to the solenoid. Vacuum is then routed from the intake manifold to the EGR valve causing it to open and deliver exhaust gases to the intake manifold and ultimately the combustion chambers.
