Vehicles do in fact have federal emissions warranty and your dealership's service writer should be able to explain what is covered to you. We'd recommend asking to speak with a service department manager. The Federal Emissions Warranty covers emissions related component repairs for vehicles up to 8 years old or up to 80,000 miles, whichever comes first. The majority of emission components however are covered under the Federal Emission Warranty, during a vehicle's first 2 years or 24,000 miles. The Federal Emissions Warranty offers both a Performance Warranty and a Design and Defect warranty.
In regard to the Direct Ignition Cassette, our sources indicate it is not covered under the Federal 8 years or 80,000 miles emissions warranty, however we strongly urge you verify this with your SAAB dealership. If you receive no response from your local SAAB dealer consider contacting corporate.
