Smog Check in advance of Registration renewal. 1989 Jaguar XJ6

I own the above vehicle which is always registered and insured. I keep it stored in San Francisco.

I live in Asia and only return to the US very infrequently. My Bi-Annual Smog Check is due in Dec. 2012. I will be in the US in May. Is there a way I can have the Vehicle smoged while I am there and have it applied to my Dec. 2012 registration. requirement?

Answer:

A smog check certificate is only valid for 90 days. A smog check obtained in May will not be valid in December. You may choose to place your vehicle under Non-Operational status with the DMV while you are out of the country.
