Vehicle Registration

I bought a 2003 Infiniti with a salvage title G35 Sedan.

I just bought a used vehicle with a salvaged title and got notify that the seller had to include me with a smog certification. Is there something I can do to get him to pay for it?

Answer:

Contact the seller of your Infiniti G35 and inform him/her of Section 24007 (b)(2) of the Vehicle Code which states it is the responsibility of the seller to provide a valid smog certificate at the time of delivery of the vehicle. There is no provision in the law to sell a vehicle "as is." in terms of its emission system(s). Typically matters such as this end up in small claims court. Although the law clearly supports the buyer, collecting on a small claims judgment can be difficult, so the amicable solution is usually best.
