So long as the air intake system you've installed is CARB (california air resources board) approved, it will pass the smog check. Inspect the unit for an EO (executive order number). EO numbers are given to emission parts legal for use in California. If the air intake housing doesn't have an EO number stamped on it, check the owners documentation or contact the manufacturer. You'll need to present the EO number to the smog technician inspecting your PT Cruiser in ordered for him/her not to mark the intake as a tampered emissions component.
