Smog check for 2011 Toyota Sienna purchased in California but moved out of CA and now re-entering CA

I purchased a 2011 Toyota Sienna in San Francisco in May 2010. I moved out of California soon after and registered the vehicle in another state. I am about to move back to California. Do I need to get this vehicle smog-checked in order to register the vehicle in California?

Technically your Toyota Sienna should have a valid California smog check certificate on file with the California DMV, whether the DMV will honor it for returning California vehicle registration is a great question. To our knowledge the DMV will require a new smog certificate since the smog certificate on file has passed its 90 expiration period.
