Is it then sufficient to submit the certification from November 2009 before the upcoming transfer?

Answer:		You will need to provide the buyer of your Mercedes Benz (MBZ) with a new smog check certificate. The smog certificate obtained in December is no longer valid for neither transfer of title or vehicle registration renewal. California smog check certificates are only valid for 90 days for registration renewal purposes, and valid for only 60 days when obtained specifically for the purpose of selling a vehicle. Assuming your MBZ has been kept up you should have no trouble passing the smog inspection.
